Zamil Industrial sponsored the “Corporate Governance Conference,” organized by the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA). The event was held on Monday, 18 February 2008 at the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Dammam, where attendees gave a hearty welcome to Keynote Speakers Dr. Abdullah Bin Hasan Al-Abdul-Gader, a member of the Board of Directors of the Capital Market Authority, and Mr. Abdul Aziz K. Al-Hashimi, General Auditor at Saudi Aramco Company.
Some of the goals accomplished by the conference were to define and clarify the concept of Corporate Governance and its practical applications. Its function as the structure of rules and procedures that provide the framework for the ethical conduct of business was explored in detail, with emphasis on the core values of transparency, accountability, responsibility and fairness.
The conference aimed to develop a strong legal sense among seniors and managers at all companies of all economic sectors and educate them on its important role in company development and review the roles and responsibilities of the board of directors of public-listed companies in protecting their firms.
It also emphasized on evaluating procedures for the monitoring and management of companies, suggest best-practice principles of protecting investors and shareholders’ rights, and reiterate the importance of disclosure and transparency when establishing corporate governance framework.
The Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants presented an award to Zamil Industrial, honoring the company’s sponsorship of the event. Said Al Daajani, Director, Corporate Communications and Investor Relations of Zamil Industrial accepted the award.
